Let me introduce you to my work, the No-face Coin Eater.

A few years ago, I was captivated by the world of anime. I believe many would agree with me that the works of Studio Ghibli are one of the the highest quality animes.
Among these, perhaps one of the most famous is Spirited Away. It is an absolute master piece in my opinion. And who else would deserve to be built more than the iconic No-Face?
Since I hadn’t seen a similar construction before made from Lego, I thought I’d bring this iconic character into the world of Lego.

As an engineer, I have always loved things that work with moving parts. My goal was to create a mechanically functioning design that works by tilting the head back, which simultaneously raises the hand holding a sake cup as a coin holder. The mechanism is driven by a gear system. The head tilts back about 25 degrees, while the hand rotates at twice that angle, ensuring the coin falls into the mouth.

I built the mechanical part of the construction to test if it really works (Yes, it absolutely works!😊).
The coins fall into a storage compartment inside the body, that can be easily pulled out and emptied from the front.

I’ve always preferred sets that are not just display pieces but can also be played with, and this design absolutely fulfills that. You can simply play with it, or actually use its function to collect small spare parts or even real money to start saving for your next set.

I believe there are quite a few anime fans around the world, who would love to see something like this on their shelf or desk. And even people who are not familiar with the world of anime can enjoy this design.

Its height is 31 cm, which is large enough to accommodate coins of various currencies in its storage and to use it with ease.
