1930s Department Store and Hotel

This is a 1930s art deco hotel and department store. It is based on various art-deco designs that cropped up in Los Angeles and New York in the 1930s.

I built the building as a project to improve my own city. It was designed to be the “gem” of downtown, an icon and landmark of the city. The extravagant gold and blue colour makes the building stand out and the clock tower acts as a focal point with the exciting statues either side creating the embellishment typical of art deco buildings.

This would be the perfect addition to any city, much like mine. Its unique colour allows it to stand out amongst other buildings and the clock’s hands allow for any display of time, perfect for New Years Eve. It sits on the same size baseplate as the current modular buildings allowing it to fit in to a theme, but stand out on its own.
