Biomedicine Institute

It all started by building a small microscope with my 8-years old daughter following her visit at my work place, a biomedical research center. She loved it and soon after I was building a small laboratory with more equipment. She brought it to her school and kids went crazy. Then I brought it to my work and all my colleagues were amazed.

The Biomedicine Institute model is the result of that play and enthusiastic welcoming.

The model is a highly detailed, custom-built model that represents a state-of-the-art biomedical research center. It includes laboratories and research offices. Inside, minifigure scientists and doctors work with high-tech equipment, conducting experiments and developing groundbreaking discoveries!

I built this MOC to highlight the importance of biomedical research and healthcare innovation in our world and to celebrate the dedication of researchers. I wanted to create a fun and educational LEGO model that showcases the real-world work happening in biomedicine, inspiring both kids and adults to explore STEM fields.

Building the Biomedicine Institute is more than just assembling bricks - it’s a journey into the world of biology and medical science. As builders construct the laboratories, they’ll place a microscope, a cell incubator, biosafety cabinets and petri dishes, gaining insight into the tools that scientists use to explore the microscopic world. The inclusion of DNA sequencers, PCR machine, ultracentrifuges and a data analysis station highlights the incredible technological advancements in modern research.

Even the wall decorations - posters of chromosomes and DNA, protein structure, mitosis and research notes of Charles Darwin - tell a story of discovery and innovation. Every space in the institute offers a glimpse into a different field of biomedicine, making the building experience both educational and inspiring.

This MOC combines education, playability, and design in an engaging way. It features interactive elements making it a hands-on learning experience.

Current and future scientists, STEM enthusiasts, educators, and LEGO fans who enjoy builds with a meaningful theme might well love it.

Three small animals are hidden within the scene as a tribute to all the creatures that have contributed to biomedical research, can you spot them?

Hope you like it and support it!
