Ever since 2013, there has been a lack of unique and interesting space sets. Classic Lego space sets had such unique designs, that complemented the faction or team that it was part of, with each sub-theme rivaling another. And then I thought to myself, about how people think of competitive sports, when they they think of rivals, and so I decided to build a race. Trying to capture the unique designs and themes of a space faction in one ship, and then pitting it against another ship, with a completely different feeling and design.

I decided to go for two spaceships, as it shows a rivalry between two friends, who have competed against each other for as long as they can remember, and this is one of their very last races together.

The first is a luxury space cruiser, owned by a pioneering astronaut called Ashley. It has plenty of space on the inside and has a white and sand green colour scheme, with light grey for the engines. This gives it a modern and new aesthetic that is complemented by a mix of round and pointy slopes.

The second is a ship that was specially designed to win the race, with the majority of the ship's bulk being its large engine. This is Dave's ship, who has spent his whole life in the sport of space racing. The ship only has enough room for him, but it suits him fine.

The set would also include two flags, with engines underneath to propel them through space.

I really enjoyed making this, and hope it gets to 10,000 supporters, as we all know how much of a desire the Lego community has to see anything that may ignite an old nostalgia for what was a core part of many peoples' childhood.
