Ed Roth's Mysterion

Ed Roth’s ”Mysterion” Show Rod

Ed ”Big Daddy” Roth is one of the best-known true artists in the Kustom Kulture and Hot Rodding scene. His influence has been significant. This is my tribute to Ed Roth and his most famous show rod, “Mysterion”.

The Mysterion was created in early 60’s and it was a big hit. Equipped with two big block Ford engines, a bubble top and several unique details it was something that had never seen before. Mysterion appeared on the cover of the September '63 Rod & Custom, as well as numerous other magazines. It was also made as a scale model by Revell. The Mysterion is one of the best-known Hot Rod and Show Rod ever.

My Mysterion model is approximately 1:24 scale so that you can place this Lego creation right next to your scale models in your showcase. However, it has strong and rigid structure so that it is also playable. Modular structure allows easy build-up and you can also take modules apart quite easily and study the invisible parts.

You can find a lot more additional pictures of the real car when you search the Web. I have tried to recreate this masterpiece as close as possible.

This is my first Cuusoo project and I have also tried to learn new techniques. The frame with holes is 3-wide while the front section is 5-wide. The body is 7-wide but the interior is 4-wide and the bubble is 6-wide. There's also some SNOT (Studs not on top) design, for example the mismatching headlights, V8-engines, side panels, rear lights and top hinges. And as in the many recent creations there's no visible studs.

This was fun to build and The Mysterion is also so far my most advanced creation. Hope you like it! :)
