The Sheer Joy of a Rainy Saturday
My submission for this challenge isn't grand in its subject, but to me captures a memory that is very dear to me.
It depicts my little niece, who was 5 years old at that time, that I looked after on a regular cloudy Saturday. While playing in the playground, the clouds got darker and darker. We hurried home, but the downpour caught up with us. Instead of running faster, my niece stopped in amazement to watch the puddles grow bigger. The disarming joy of the splashing water as she jumped in turned the somber moment into a picture perfect memory.
It's those little moments of happiness that stay with me the longest.
To capture the rain, I used antennas and bar pieces and for the splash effect I used power burst elements. The facade of the house background has a small platform so the front door is slightly raised. It gives some extra depth to the image.
