ABOUT YOURSELF
- What is your name?
My name is Aurelien, aka Airbricks.
- Do you have a personal LEGO portfolio website that you can share with us?
You can follow me on Instagram: @airbricks95.
- Have you created any LEGO MOCs (my own creations) that you’re particularly proud of?
There is an MOC that I am particularly proud, yes. I also make Brixelart paintings. Here is an astronaut's helmet. It is the cover of Burak Yeter's album
- What does the LEGO hobby mean to you? How does it fit into your life?
LEGO building takes up a lot of space in my life. I have even dedicated a space in part of my garage in order to be able to build official sets, and also to make creations like paintings, or even MOCs.
- What is your favorite LEGO theme (current or past)?
I love the creative side of the Ninjago™ range, and Monkie Kids™ has a range which also really reflects creativity.
- What is your favorite official LEGO set ever? Why?
It's hard to choose. There are so many cool things to build, but I have to admit that the Rivendell set I built recently blew me away.
- Is there a LEGO designer (official LEGO designer or fan designer) who you are inspired by and look up to? Who and why?
Lately, I have started doing Brick Pixel Art and I really like what the artist Mbrick does. He combines art and bricks, and it's very successful!
- Is there one or more particular LEGO websites (not official LEGO websites) that you visit often and/or are inspired by
Honestly, I keep the assembly guides. Some techniques can be useful after I get inspired by realistic photos, or in order to make an MOC.
ABOUT YOUR PROJECT
- Where did your interest in this particular model come from?
I designed the elementary school from the animated series The Simpsons™ because I really think that this License has the assets to make a comeback.
- How long did the process of making the project take and what did you have to research?
This took about a month. I was mainly inspired by any photos I could find of the building for the interior. I also embraced the imaginary side, but still respecting the classroom, the teacher's office, etc.
- If you could talk to yourself before you started on this project, what would you tell him/her? What do you know now that you wish you knew then?
I would have liked to work on the Minifigures, in order to add basic characters like Seymour Skinner, the school principal, and Mrs. Edna Krabappel, a teacher.
- How long did it take to complete the model?
To promote the project, I used networks like Instagram and AFOLs groups. The Simpsons License is very well known, so that also helped me a lot.
- How did it feel when you reached the magic 10,000 votes and how long did it take?
This is my fourth project to reach 10,000, and it's just really incredible. I want to thank all the supporters. I know that the road is very long to reach the goal!
- Approximately how many LEGO bricks did you use to create your model?
It has 2,609 pieces.
- If you built your model digitally, what software did you use to build and render your model?
I used BrickLink Stud.io.
ABOUT LEGO IDEAS
- Do you have any useful advice about creating a successful LEGO Ideas Product Idea?
I think the first image is very important, in order to get the necessary attention.
- What (if any) methods did you use to advertise and attract support to your Product Idea?
I regularly use social networks, especially Instagram and Facebook groups.
- What is your favorite LEGO Ideas Product Idea (besides your own of course)?
My favorite is still Central Perk from Friends™, by Aymerik Fievet.
- What is it about the platform that attracts you? What tips would you give to anyone who is thinking about uploading an idea?
What I like about this platform is the idea of being considered a fan designer. Getting your official LEGO set must really be an honor. Well, for me it is the absolute Holy Grail
