10K Club Interview: LAUREL & HARDY THEATRE by silgio

"Here's another fine mess you've gotten me into!”. Well, certainly not in this case - check out the super-impressive and incredibly charming LAUREL & HARDY THEATRE by silgio. Please help us congratulate them on reaching 10,000 supporters in the comments down below too!

ABOUT YOURSELF

  1. What is your first name + last name?
    Silvio Giovetti.

  2. Where are you from?
San Giorgio Canavese (near Turin), Italy.

  3. What hobbies do you have?
I enjoy creating LEGO MOCs and collecting military memorabilia.

  4. Do you have a personal LEGO portfolio website that you can share with us?
You can see my LEGO creations on my Facebook and Instagram page – Silvio’s Disneyworld.

  5. Have you created any LEGO MOCs (my own creations) that you’re particularly proud of? What is it, why are you proud of it and do you have a photo of it?
Usually, I create Disney MOCs, but I’m very proud of my English citizens of the 1920s scene with a Gothic cathedral, which used about 100,000 pieces.

  6. How and when did your interest in LEGO products come about?
I’ve played with LEGO bricks ever since I was a child, and in 2012 I started to make LEGO MOCs.

  7. What does the LEGO hobby mean to you? How does it fit into your life? E.g. build, display, meetups, play the games or 'just' watch the cartoons.
I build LEGO models to escape from my condition - I’m deaf, but with LEGO bricks I can make something great. I also participate in LEGO exhibitions. My family helps me, too, but they only build and play with LEGO sets.

  8. What is your favorite LEGO theme (current or past)? Why? And has any theme inspired your building style or preference in any particular way?
In terms of past LEGO themes, I love Pirates and Castles. My Favorite current themes are Creator Expert and Ideas.

  9. What is your favorite official LEGO set ever? Why?
My favorite set is LEGO Castle: King’s Mountain Fortress (6081), because it’s a childhood memory.

  10. What is your favorite LEGO element? Why?
Brick Modified with Masonry Profile, because I can create old buildings!

  11. Is there a LEGO designer (official LEGO designer or fan designer) who you are inspired by and look up to? Who and why?
My friend Sandro Damiano, who designed the LEGO Bricklink Winter Chalet. He takes great care of details and I love it!

ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

  1. Where did your interest in this particular model come from?
I saw Laurel & Hardy with my father, who passed away in February 2022.

  2. How long did the process of making the project take and what did you have to research? What kind of prep, research and design phases did you go through to produce your creation?
It took about 3 months to create it. I watched the film and then I made the model without a set plan.

  3. What special challenges or frustrations did you face creating the model? What was the most difficult part to recreate?
I had difficulty fitting all the objects from the various scenes inside the theater.

  4. If you could talk to yourself before you started on this project, what would you tell him/her? What do you know now that you wish you knew then?
I’d tell him not to think about the votes and the time left!

  5. How long did it take to complete the model? Did you finish it fairly quickly, or did it take a long time? And how did the build time compare to the time you spent promoting your Product Idea to reach 10,000 supporters?
I completed the project in 3 months, and then promoted it on Facebook and at exhibitions.

  6. How did it feel when you reached the magic 10,000 votes and how long did it take?
It took me 13 months to get 10,000 votes, and I feel surprised, excited and grateful!

  7. Approximately how many LEGO bricks did you use to create your model?
    About 1000 pieces.

  8. What is your favorite building technique or part/section that you’ve incorporated into your Product Idea?
The ladder that becomes a drawer.

  9. If you used custom stickers or prints for your design, how did you create them or where did you get them?
I printed some items with a graphic designer.

About LEGO Ideas

  1. What (if any) methods did you use to advertise and attract support to your Product Idea?
I’ve used only Facebook, my personal page, LEGO groups and Laurel & Hardy groups.

  2. What is your favorite LEGO Ideas Product Idea (besides your own of course)? Are there any Product Ideas you think have been overlooked?
