The wait is over! We've been polishing this yellow and black beauty all night so that we could finally present to you the first official images and details of the LEGO Ideas 21307 Caterham Seven 620R! Measuring in at 771 bricks distributed across 3” (10cm) in height, 11” (28cm) in length and 5” (14cm) in width, this Caterham contains stunning details to reproduce that awe inspiring Caterham look.

This LEGO Caterham is racing to a store near you with availability from the 1st of October, 2016 for a recommended retail price of USD 79.99 / EUR 79,99.

Here is the official product description:

Create a LEGO® version of the Caterham Seven 620R, a custom-built sports car with an unashamed old-school vibe. Power steering? No chance. Electric windows? Forget it. The Caterham Seven is definitely not for the faint-hearted—luxury is for wimps! Remove the nose cone, engine cover or engine to take a closer look at the authentic details of a LEGO model that’s for true car connoisseurs only.

Carl Greatrix, fan designer, and Henrik Andersen, LEGO Designer, share their insights:

"One of the most exhilarating drives I’ve ever had was out on the track in a Caterham Seven. It is brutally fast due to its light weight and tremendous fun to be in. It really struck a chord in my heart that I never forgot", Carl Greatrix a.k.a. bricktrix_Carl explains as he talks about his love for Caterham cars.

This love turned to inspiration for his future LEGO Caterham model, Carl explains "When I got back into building LEGO car models I thought the shape of the vehicle would lend itself to being modelled well in LEGO bricks as it is very angular and if I could find a suitable scale then I would be able to get all the details into it that I would love to see".

Henrik Andersen, LEGO designer, shared his enthusiasm for Carl's work “Carl really did a great job of converting the real car’s shape into a LEGO version as both the sloping front and the hood are really complex”.

I can understand that some people are annoyed with the changes, but I hope they understand that they're concessions to cost and design; not arbitrary changes designed merely to annoy people.

I think it's a great looking kit, has a nice price to part ratio and does an incredible job of accurately capturing an iconic design.

I for one relish getting my hands on it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy adding modifications like rack and pinion steering and minor details.

Original design and colors were much better. We voted for his design. Most of the great details from the original have been sacrificed. The wheels on this design look horrible. Originals look 100% better.

I've had a look at the original photo's and I have to say they look far better than what is now offered. The exhaust is the wrong colour, the wheels should have been spooked in either chrome or aluminium. It's a shame the steering has not been included, however the engine does look good and no stickers is one of the better ideas in this set. I was going to buy this set but having now seen what was originally built I'll let this one pass by.

Congratulations on the success, I like how it turned out to be, although I honestly think the original design was better than the edit LEGO gave it, still, great set, maybe the price is a little too high but I'll still try to buy it.

Sorry Lego, the original was fantastic. This revised model is too chunky. I guess I will just leave it in the shelf. Too bad...

Nice, though I think it was a little more different than I expected. I understand the work LEGO designers must do though, and how strict they can be on "illegal" building techniques. Not bad ;D

I feel like they ruined it from the original model. The wheels don't turn and there's something about this that doesn't seem as good as the original model was...

Great looking set! The price seems to just keep growing though on the newer sets...
